Our final morning at Coupeville is quiet after a night of a rolling, rocking dock from wind waves. Lattes from "The Cove" on the wharf get us going while we check out the low tide under the pilings. The ramp is steep from the low tide, and we have a boy on his tummy looking for the exposed critters under the dock. Kids have the best sense of curiosity!

One last look at the wharf, and we continue south along Whidbey Island. Yet another sailboat is grounded, it was out in the cove last night. Did the wind blow it ashore? And crab pots are out for another day, We wonder how whales can navigate through the pots. It must be even more of a challenge for them than it is for us.
We see a tug with a fuel barge, numerous small fishing boats - they are everywhere today! - and a log ship that weaves its way through them. And we talk about friendship on the water. We have always enjoyed it when a passing boat would toot or give us a friendly wave. But, on occasion, we are getting boats that pass too close for comfort, there is no friendly greeting, we are just left to deal with their wake. One of the peeves of boating!
Slips are full in Kingston and we are happy we made a reservation. Music is drifting our way from shore, and we have arrived in time for a concert in the park. We have a great time, everyone does, and there are some very good dancers out moving to the music. It's a festive afternoon thanks to a trio called "The Tropics".

We take a stroll through town and to the shore side park to watch the ferry arrive.
Back on NORTH STAR we grill some salmon to go with Greek salads, a favorite summer boat dinner.
