Canada day is here for us! We leave Stuart Island, cruising by the scenic and historic Turn Point lighthouse. Sadly, we never made the hike to the lighthouse while we were on Stuart, but Dan did paddle out to see Pat and Dan on their boat moored in Prevost Harbor for a short chat. They are the couple we met in Deer Harbor who are currently spending ten days as the docents for the light station.

The cruise is short but gnarly as the current is against the wind. With the need to clear customs, an agent on the dock takes our boat name and tells us to wait to be called outside the Sidney marina breakwater. We bounce on the waves for what seems like a long time. Dan finally calls in with our NEXUS passes, and we are immediately cleared. It was a bit confusing, but we are officially in Canada now, hooray! We make our way to our slip in the Sidney marina.
Dinner is aboard tonight, followed by an evening walk. The sights are all familiar, little has changed along the waterfront since our last visit. It is still an inviting place to be.
The long public pier is such an asset, a place for fishing, crabbing, visiting, strolling. and taking in the views.
All along the walkway are displays of art, beautiful flowers, and benches. It is so pedestrian friendly!
Evening clouds mean great skies at sunset!

Sidney layover day
Weather: Partly cloudy, warming to mid 70's
It's a day on the town for us, starting with breakfast coffee and pastries at 10 Acres. We window shop, pick up a few groceries, make the mandatory visit to the local bakery, just enjoy our surroundings. And then lunch is outdoors on the deck of The Surley Mermaid.

Should we spoil ourselves? Why not! After a lazy afternoon, we head to Subhai Thai for dinner. Yes, it's time to walk! Another beautiful evening on the waterfront where there is a lot of crabbing happening on the pier and musicians are playing in the outdoor amphitheater. What a nice day in Sidney!
