forty days: similk bay
Dates: July 1 through July 5, 2022
It's family time! We are with our daughter and three fantastic grandkids (not kids anymore, they are wonderful young adults!) to celebrate the extended Fourth of July weekend. And we are in a wonderful spot for our gathering.
Similk Bay? Where is that? Well, we have passed so close to it many times on NORTH STAR. It is the north extension of Skagit Bay off the southeast shores of Fidalgo Island. It sits just beyond Hope, Skagit, and Kiket Islands. Normally boaters head west from Skagit Bay to Deception Pass and not into this shallow bay where there is a small community. Oysters are found on the beaches, and crabbing in the bay is good.
Our retreat is perfect for enjoying the bay. And enjoy we do! We'll post just a few of our photos.
