Broughton Islands West
Muirhead Islands, Drury Inlet, Canada 6-23-16. End of the Inlet in the north corner of the Broughton group. Dark afternoon with poor lighting. The video is reduced to 15 seconds. Bottom with scattered oyster shells and rock rubble, no marine life is visible here.
Sea Breeze Cove, Southwest Gilford Island 6-26-16. Took the dingy to a shallow spot east of the anchorage to inspect a large seagrass or eelgrass meadow. Should be good habitat for juvenile salmon, crab and similar beasts.
Waddington Bay, Bonwick Island 6-25-16. We're parked in a protected Lagoon on the western-most extent of the Bay. While little active marine life can be seen on this video, but there is definite evidence with a sea urchin test and oyster shells.
Mound Island, near Indian Channel and Harbledown Island, 7-15-19. A very nice anchorage, with a sand and algae covered bottom. Shows a medium sized Dungeness crab and an identified fish.
Spout Is Hanson Is. 6-27-16. We're anchored on the northern margin of the island next to Blackfish Sound. A rich algae cover is a key feature of this site, including large areas of bull kelp. Halfway into the video, a large staghorn sculpin (Leptocottus armatus) swims through the field.
Spout Is. Hanson Is. 7-28-19. Very similar to the 2016 condition, taken near the same location. The bottom is covered with a dense layer of brown algae and filamentous diatoms.
