Cruise To: Spout Island, Hanson Island
Engine Hours Start: 1047
Engine Hours Finish: 105l

We have lots of goodbyes this morning as we all disperse in different directions. The docks are half empty at Echo Bay when we set out, on our way for one final anchorage before we leave the Broughtons. Tim passed out decals to all of us last night, kind of like a merit badge for participating. Mine is going on the cover of our log book.

We cruise by Billy Proctor's place and the salmon research station, as well as Yvonne Maximchuk's home and studio. Cramer Pass takes us to Retreat Passage, with lots of islets along the way.
We turn into Spring Passage, and then cross Knight Inlet to Crease Island where we drift while enjoying a scenic lunch stop.
The skies have cleared, and we can see the mountains of Vancouver Island as we approach Blackfish Sound. I spot the tail fin of a whale as it dives. We drop the anchor at Spout Island, with a view out to Blackfish Sound. It's a gorgeous spot!
It's time to row the dinghy, the kayak is still out of commission due to the missing paddles. Here is a look at a bit of our Spout Island world: (The last photos are of a piece of eel grass with red algae along the blade. In one photo, the eel grass is in a bucket so that we can take a closer look.)
Two other boats are here, and we are familiar with both of them! The Camano Troll "Triton" crew are out exploring in kayaks. We met them at Sullivan Bay. And "Next Adventure", a Ranger Tug from outside of Vancouver, is anchored near us with Byron and Anya aboard. They were docked with us for the past three days at Echo Bay.
More of our photos (we love kelp beds! Look carefully for kelp crabs!):
Strong winds keep us from exploring outside of our nook. Instead, we cross the the opposite side, and then seek protection from the wakes of not just one, but two passing cruise ships.
Evening is quiet and lovely, and we have a final dinner in the Broughtons in the cockpit of NORTH STAR.
