Morning is beautiful with a S.W. breeze. We slow to wait for a ferry to pass as we leave Eagle Harbor. We can just make out the skyline of downtown Seattle across the water.
After some rough water, we continue north with a following sea. There are lots of small fishing boats dotting the water, but we don't see any fish being landed. The water smooths along Whidbey, and we find the pier almost empty at Coupeville. The sailing schooner Suva is off on a short cruise but will be next to us when it returns.
The streets of Coupeville are quiet and pretty empty as we take a walk ashore. And then we watch as Suva returns under full sail, a lovely sight!
Suva heads out again on a dinner cruise, and we head to Toby's for fish and chips.
What a nice evening to be here!

Coupeville layover day
Weather: Nice!
Good Morning, Coupeville!
The day is looking great, and we plan to stay for another night. Some large batteries are being loaded and installed in the engine room of Suva this morning. a lot of work for the crew. Just a bit of fog drifts by.
We pick up quiches, pastries, and lattes for a picnic breakfast - breakfast with a view of the historic wharf.
Coupeville is a great place to walk. We do just that!
And we can't seem to get enough photos of the wharf and town.
We find a restaurant, Ciao, with outdoor dining for flatbread pizzas. And then another sunset. Mt.Baker reflects the last light of day across the cove from us.
And then the deep reds before day is done.

We have a final picnic breakfast ashore before heading to Oak Harbor for fuel and pumpout. That part of the cruise is easy going, but once we reach Cornet Bay, the wind has picked up enough to make docking a challenge. Thankfully we are assisted by some helping hands from another docked boat. We are on an offshore floating dock with just one other boat.
The surprise of the day is a sunset like no other, the sky is on fire!
