Today our focus is on the cruise as we make our way south toward our home port of Olympia. First up is the shoreline of Cypress.
We enter Fidalgo Bay, making our way to the railroad bridge at the entrance to the Swinomish Channel.
As always, the channel is full of interesting sights, especially as we pass the town of LaConner and the Swinomish tribal lands on the opposite shore.
The channel takes us into Skagit Bay. We always marvel at the houses on the high bluffs. And there are always log booms stored along the way.
We plan to stop in Langley for the night, but the forecast is predicting strong winds for tomorrow. We opt to continue south to the protection of Blakely Harbor. We increase our speed to 14 knots along Whidbey, not going at our typical sight seeing speed. There isn't much boat traffic and the water is calm.
We drop our anchor in Blakely Harbor after a long day of cruising. We have a good view across Elliott Bay to downtown Seattle, and we are well protected from any winds that might blow our way. The colorful graffiti on the powerhouse from the historic mill site catches our eye. Long live the memory and legacy of RGB! I think she would like this tribute.

Sediment sampling with both boat and shore crews is ongoing in the harbor, they are looking for contaminants from the earlier mill operations. They have some interesting equipment, and the captain pays a visit to learn about their activities.
Blakely Harbor is such a beautiful anchorage!
We watch both the skies and the water as clouds build and the day begins to fade away.
Goodnight!
