Have to note that staying on the dock where all the boaters come to shore with their dinghies makes us the center of a lot of attention. That is, NORTH STAR is the center of a lot of attention. Wherever we go, our Ranger Tug draws so much interest! And, with five of us here in Reid Harbor right now, we are really getting the attention and questions. What great P.R. for Ranger Tugs!
We say farewell to our Tug Time neighbors and are on our way. We give Lisa and Jim on their beautiful red "Kismet" a toot as we exit Reid Harbor. Fog banks are in drifts along the way as we take in views of Stuart Island from the water, noting the spots where we hiked yesterday.

A quick phone call gives us clearance on our NEXXUS passes to enter Canada. And into the fog we go, passing islets veiled in the mist.
The sun is out as we head into Sidney and procure a spot in the marina. It is like old home week, we are between a C-dory and a Cutwater, and another Ranger Tug is right behind us. All familiar boats! And right away, we have a couple admiring NORTH STAR. Jim and Isabel live in Sidney, but also have a home on nearby Piers Island. They have a blog about their sailing adventures across the Pacific Ocean to New Zealand on their Southern Cross 39 "Sonsie". We exchange cards, and are invited to visit them on Piers Island. We are looking forward to their blog (www.sailblogs.com/member/owlpussycat).
It's time for a walk, along the waterfront of Sidney and into the main part of town. Flowers are still colorful in gardens, and the town is still showing the red and white colors from the 150th birthday celebration for Canada.

Sidney layover day, sunny and upper 60's, lovely!
Today is for enjoying Sidney, doing our laundry, provisioning, walks, a bike ride for Dan, and dinner out. And, we have a challenge! We were awakened in the night with scratching sounds, and discovered evidence of a mouse aboard! So, cabinets and storage areas get emptied, checked, traps purchased and set. Good thing it is a lovely day so that we can be off the boat most of the day enjoying ourselves, as we have things piled everywhere, while the traps with their inviting peanut butter await our visitor in emptied out spaces.
There are some amazing boats in the marina, not at all like we see in Olympia, but really large yachts, all gleaming white. We meet John and Suzanne on a red R 31, Wee Venture. They were docked near us at the Rendezvous and are just beginning a new adventure, to live aboard their boat after having sold their home in Kirkland. They will be moored in Kenmore on Lake Washington. The boat is only a few weeks old. We wish them well and look forward to hearing their stories.
