stay-cations!
Dates: August 28 and 29, 2022
Swantown Marina, Olympia
Weather: Sunny, breeze from north, warming to 80 degrees
What a weekend! Friday (the 26th) we celebrated our 55th anniversary with our daughter and three grands. On the waterfront, of course! So, Saturday became our date night, with dinner on the water again and an overnite on NORTH STAR right in our own marina. The sunset was red! And there was hot music playing to go with it. A festival was taking place on the port property just beyond the marina, and we heard every note as we sat in our cockpit enjoying the warm summer night air.

Sunday, August 28th, and it's time for more celebration as the captain has a birthday today! We walk to the Olympia Farmers Market to pick up pastries and coffee and cross to Percival Landing to sit by the water and enjoy our picnic breakfast.
With lunch fixings aboard and a gorgeous day, we cruise into Budd Bay and drop our anchor near Gull Harbor in an area of forested shores. We rock gently, soaking up the sun, feeling the breeze, enjoying doing absolutely nothing. A few birthday phone calls for Dan, lots of text messages for both of us, and the joy of boat naps - what could be better? We'll have to do a stay-cation again, tourists relaxing in our home town.

Swantown Marina
Weather: Beautiful! Upper 70's with a breeze
It's Labor Day weekend and Harbor Days is happening in Olympia along Percival Landing. We bring a pasta salad aboard NORTH STAR on Saturday for dinner in the cockpit followed by a walk on the trail towards the Hearthfire. "Spirit" clouds are striking as they catch the final light of the sun. Another beautiful evening to be aboard our boat!

Once again we pick up pastries and coffee from the market and find a bench at Percival Landing to enjoy the start of our day. The docks are filled with visiting vintage tugs as well as the historic replica of the Lady Washington and the 100 year old Virginia V. We have a busy morning visiting boats, talking to people, learning, having fun. The tugs head out at noon for races on Budd Bay. We think Harbor Days is a great event, it is wonderful to have the celebration back after two years of cancellation due to COVID. We are seeing lots of happy people having a good time. So are we!
