There is time to walk the trails in the park before leaving. Trails go along the water, through the forest, and toward the ferry docks, connecting to everything that surrounds the park. The senior center abuts the park as well, and there are picnic areas and play areas for kids. Some great planning was done here!
NORTH STAR is prepped to leave. We wave goodbye to Don on Peregrine and make our way out of Eagle Harbor. Seattle is small in the distance, and ferries are on their routes to carry passengers to and from the big city. Many Bainbridge Island residents commute to Seattle for work, and the ferries are an essential part of life here.
Port Madison is an idyllic waterfront community on Bainbridge Island, and we cruise into the harbor for a look. Its a pretty fantastic place to live! There are many private docks as well as a Seattle Yacht Club outstation.
We turn into Agate Passage. The bridge is covered with tarps and netting for work projects, but it is still open to traffic.
We start to get some mountain views in Liberty Bay as we near Keyport. What a beautiful setting! A military installation is here. We think it would be prime resort property!
As usual, we don't have a slip reservation, but there is plenty of space on the dock for us in Poulsbo. We learn that a group of Ranger Tugs/Cutwaters are scheduled to arrive tomorrow and have reserved several slips. We will be in good company here!
When you are on the dock in Poulsbo, town is right next to you, as well as a shoreside park with walking trail. In recognition of early settlers, the town has a Nordic theme.

Poulsbo layover day
Weather: Gray and cool, upper 60's
Granddaughter Skye is 12 today! Happy Birthday to her! We have a neighbor, a new R23 that is just one day old! New owners Bob and Kathy are on their way home to Whidbey Island after going through orientation with their tug in Des Moines. They plan to moor at Langley during off months and Everett in the summer. We wish them many happy days aboard. If we remember correctly, she will be called "Salina".
We are surprised when launches with large numbers of passengers start arriving. It turns out that a passenger ship with American Cruise Lines is anchored in Liberty Bay and bringing people ashore. Wow!

It's time to check out some of the shops in town. We especially enjoy one of the art galleries and the Maritime Museum that focuses on local history. Bob, a a life long resident and docent at the museum, is a retired firefighter. We learn a lot from him, and later he joins us for lunch. It is great to connect with a local!
Back on the docks, the Ranger Tug group has started to arrive. We are so happy to see Barry and his beautiful new Laxey! We have known this great guy, along with his now deceased wife, since our first Rendezvous back in 2011.
Day turns to evening . . . and the docks have filled in with a dozen Ranger Tugs! Yep, we counted them! There is a mini Rendezvous going on here.
